Day Reconstruction Method (DRM, Kahneman et al.)

PsychologyReliability: established psychometric performance3 sample items

About this scale

A diary method for reconstructing affective experience by listing the previous day's episodes and rating each on affect, time, and activity. Captures momentary well-being more accurately than global self-reports.

Sample item(s)

“List each episode from yesterday (e.g., '8:00–8:30 commute')”
“Rate each episode on enjoyment (0–6)”
“Rate each episode on stress (0–6)”

Reliability

Reported internal consistency: established psychometric performance. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.

Notes

Method, not a scale; complement with PANAS or SPANE for affect ratings.
