Responsible AI Use at Work
Ethics & CSRReliability: alpha 0.874 sample items
About this scale
An 8-item measure of the extent to which employees use AI tools in ways that align with ethical principles (transparency, fairness, accountability, data privacy). Captures both behavioural intention and reported behaviour and is intended for organizational AI-governance research.
Sample item(s)
“I disclose to colleagues when I use AI to produce work outputs.”
“I check AI outputs for potential bias before using them.”
“I avoid sharing confidential information with public AI tools.”
“I take responsibility for the consequences of my AI-assisted decisions.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.87. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Pair with AI ethical concerns (Stahl et al., 2023) and AI literacy (Wang et al., 2023) for a complete responsible-AI profile.
