UPB Short Form (Effelsberg, Solga & Gurt)
Ethics & CSRReliability: alpha 0.863 sample items
About this scale
A 5-item short form of UPB validated in German and international samples, retaining the strongest indicators from Umphress et al. (2010) for survey-length-constrained designs.
Sample item(s)
“If it helped the company, I would distort information to make the organization look good.”
“If it helped the company, I would withhold negative information about a product from customers.”
“If it helped the company, I would conceal harmful information from regulators.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.86. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Use when survey length is constrained; retains the willingness-not-enactment framing.
