Composite Reliability (Raykov)
HR & WorkReliability: statistical estimator4 sample items
About this scale
A composite reliability estimator that does not assume tau-equivalence (unlike Cronbach's alpha). CR = (Σλ)² / [(Σλ)² + Σθ], where λ are standardized loadings and θ are residual variances.
Sample item(s)
“Compute squared sum of factor loadings”
“Add to sum of residual variances”
“CR = squared sum / (squared sum + sum residuals)”
“CR ≥ 0.70 acceptable, ≥ 0.80 good”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: statistical estimator. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Preferred over Cronbach's alpha when loadings vary.
