Contextual Performance (Borman & Motowidlo)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.883 sample items
About this scale
A 16-item measure of contextual performance — discretionary behaviours that contribute to the organizational, social, and psychological environment in which task performance occurs. Distinct from but overlapping with OCB.
Sample item(s)
“Volunteer to do additional tasks at work.”
“Help and cooperate with others at work.”
“Persist with extra effort despite difficult conditions.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.88. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Pair with task performance for full performance modelling.
