Diversity Climate (McKay, Avery & Morris)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.863 sample items
About this scale
A 4-item measure of employee perceptions of the organization's pro-diversity practices and norms. Used extensively in DEI, HR-attribution, and unit-level performance research.
Sample item(s)
“I trust the company to treat me fairly.”
“Where I work, employees are developed and advanced without regard to the racial group, ethnicity, or gender to which they belong.”
“Where I work, managers demonstrate through their actions that they want to hire and retain a diverse workforce.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.86. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Common in multilevel HRM-performance studies; aggregate to unit level with appropriate ICC justification.
