HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.863 sample items
About this scale
A 7-item measure of felt obligation toward the organization — a key mediator between perceived organizational support and discretionary effort, OCB, and citizenship-based outcomes.
Sample item(s)
“I feel a personal obligation to do whatever I can to help the organization achieve its goals.”
“I owe it to the organization to give 100% of my energy to its goals while I am at work.”
“I feel I would be letting my organization down if I did not give my best effort.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.86. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Theoretical mediator between POS and reciprocal OCB.
