Felt Violation (Morrison & Robinson)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.923 sample items
About this scale
A 4-item measure of the affective component of psychological contract breach — the emotional response of betrayal, anger, and violation when employees perceive their employer has not delivered on promises.
Sample item(s)
“I feel a great deal of anger toward my organization.”
“I feel betrayed by my organization.”
“I feel that my organization has violated the contract between us.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.92. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Use as a mediator between breach perceptions and outcomes (turnover, withdrawal).
