In-role Job Performance (Williams & Anderson)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.913 sample items
About this scale
A 7-item supervisor-rated (also self-rated) measure of in-role job performance — the behaviours formally required as part of the job. Widely paired with OCB-O / OCB-I to separate task and contextual performance.
Sample item(s)
“Adequately completes assigned duties.”
“Performs tasks that are expected of him/her.”
“Fulfills responsibilities specified in his/her job description.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.91. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Self-report task performance is sensitive to social desirability; supervisor or objective ratings preferred when feasible.
