Learning Transfer System Inventory (LTSI, Holton, Bates & Ruona)
HR & WorkReliability: alphas 0.60–0.91 across 16 factors3 sample items
About this scale
A 68-item measure of factors affecting transfer of training to the workplace, organized into 16 factors covering trainee characteristics, training design, and work environment.
Sample item(s)
“Trainees in my work group will lose status if they don't apply what they learn in training. (peer support)”
“My job duties will keep me from using new skills I learn. (lack of facilitation)”
“My supervisor opposes the use of techniques I learn in training. (supervisor sanctions)”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alphas 0.60–0.91 across 16 factors. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Use shorter focused subscales when full LTSI is impractical.
