Self-Leadership Questionnaire (SLQ, Anderson & Prussia)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.913 sample items
About this scale
A 50-item original measure of self-leadership across Manz's three strategy categories. The first comprehensive operationalization of self-leadership theory, predating the RSLQ.
Sample item(s)
“I work toward specific goals I have set for myself (goal setting)”
“I try to surround myself with objects and people that bring out my desirable behaviors (cuing)”
“I purposefully visualize myself successfully performing a task before I do it (visualizing)”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.91. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Foundational SLQ; replaced by RSLQ for modern use but useful for legacy comparisons.
