HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.933 sample items
About this scale
An 8-item measure of the perceived quality of social-exchange relationships at work, including investment, support, and reciprocity expectations. Used widely in OB research as an alternative to LMX.
Sample item(s)
“My relationship with my organization is based on mutual trust.”
“I work hard for my organization because I feel a sense of obligation.”
“My organization and I will continue to support each other in the future.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.93. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
LMSX is the social-exchange-grounded counterpart to LMX.
