Workplace Microaggressions
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.923 sample items
About this scale
A multi-item measure of perceived workplace microaggressions — brief, often unintentional verbal, behavioural, or environmental indignities communicating hostile, derogatory, or negative racial/gender slights toward marginalized group members.
Sample item(s)
“Coworkers have made comments that subtly invalidate my cultural identity.”
“I have been told I am 'not like the others' from my demographic group.”
“Others have assumed my role at work is lower-status than it is, based on my appearance.”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.92. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Increasingly used in DEI and intersectional OB research.
