Workplace Mistreatment Exposure (Lim, Cortina & Magley)
HR & WorkReliability: alpha 0.923 sample items
About this scale
A 12-item self-report measure of exposure to incivility, harassment, and bullying at work. Useful when researchers need a single mistreatment exposure index across multiple sub-types.
Sample item(s)
“Were addressed in unprofessional terms either publicly or privately”
“Were yelled at, sworn at, or shouted at”
“Were ignored or excluded from professional camaraderie”
Reliability
Reported internal consistency: alpha 0.92. As a rule of thumb, Cronbach’s α ≥ .70 is considered acceptable, ≥ .80 good, and ≥ .90 excellent for established measures.
Notes
Use behavioural-frequency stem to reduce social-desirability bias.
